The NRC's grassroots program was created to invite United States Congressmen to visit NRC member facilities and construction project sites. These visits give the Members of Congress firsthand knowledge of the rail industry and demonstrate how rail contractors and suppliers are positively affecting the rail industry and the local and national economy. If your company is interested in hosting your Congressman for a visit, please contact Lindsey Collins at lcollins@nrcma.org to begin the process.
Paulsboro, NJ - On March 4, U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ-2) joined National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association (NRC) member - the Railroad Construction Co. of South Jersey (RCCSJ) - for a tour of their facility, and their project at the Port of Paulsboro.
The congressman toured the facility, which has over 14 acres of storage yard, a 60,000 square foot warehouse, a 13,000 square foot mechanics's garage, 20,000 square feet of covered storage, a fully equipped training facility, and a new office building.
At the Port of Paulsboro, Congressman LoBiondo learned about the construction of a new marine terminal at which 14,000 feet of new track and nine turnouts are being built.
"I appreciated the opportunity to tour the Port of Paulsboro and the detailed briefing on current and future plans which would greatly benefit South Jersey's economy. This substantial investment will create local jobs and new opportunities for businesses in Gloucester, Salem and neighboring counties. During my visit I reiterated my willingness to be a partner with the Railroad Construction Company of South Jersey on this and additional projects," said Congressman LoBiondo.
"We thank the Congressman for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit us at Railroad Construction Co. of South Jersey, Inc.,"ÂÂ said Christofer Daloisio, Vice President of RCCSJ and Chair of the NRC Board. "We had the opportunity to give him the history of our 4th generation family business and give a tour of our facility. We also gave him a tour of the Port Paulsboro Project. His support of these critical infrastructure projects is helping to create much needed long-term sustainable jobs for New Jersey and helping small family-owned business like ours succeed and grow."
Congressman Frank LoBiondo has represented New Jersey's Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1994. He is a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee serving on the Subcommittees on Highways and Transit, and Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, and as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Aviation. He also serves on the House Armed Services Committee. In the 112th Congress, Frank was appointed to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on which he serves as the Chairman of the newly created CIA Subcommittee.
