Host your own NRC Grassroots Event

The NRC's grassroots program was created to invite United States Congressmen to visit NRC member facilities and construction project sites. These visits give the Members of Congress firsthand knowledge of the rail industry and demonstrate how rail contractors and suppliers are positively affecting the rail industry and the local and national economy. Orangeburg, SC - On 6/2/14, NRC Members Ansaldo STS and Road & Rail Services attended a GoRail-organized event hosting U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC-02) at The Okonite Company for a tour of their facility in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

GoRail is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public about the benefits of moving more freight by rail. The NRC organized the event.

Headquartered in Ramsey NJ, The Okonite Company makes insulated electrical wire and cable. The have 6 manufacturing facilities and serve a multitude of industry markets including railroad and transit. The Orangeburg, SC facility is 523,000 sq feet and has approximately 280 employees. Orangeburg is Okonite's newest plant and produces a wide array of products including Okonite's Okoguard EPR insulated cables.

Congressman Wilson serves on the Armed Services Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Education and Workforce Committee.
